Asemore is an American television series that aired on FOX in 2013. It was created by BeamOfSunlight. It ran for 13 episodes.

Premise[]

A claustrophobic petroleum engineer and a crazy dictator team up - after a village is threatened by bandits - to find a replacement. Events are shattered by an invasion.

Characters[]

  • Greg (played by Carl Wisner): A petroleum engineer who works at Rockmore Petroleum Labs™. He deals with claustrophobia, and has a much larger office than his co-workers.
  • Dave (played by Mitchell Barrientos): The dictator of the micronation Astrar, who has schizophrenia and does unruly things to his "citizens", which for your information are just rocks.

Reception[]

Asemore received mixed to positive reviews from television critics.

Controversy[]

In November 2013, the citizens of Asemore, Montana announced that they would be suing BeamOfSunlight and 20th Century Fox. The citizens claimed that BeamOfSunlight had visited the small town on numerous occasions during 2011 and 2012, and although promising that he was visiting "to study the history of Montana", he allegedly lied to the citizens and had based the show off them without their permission. The citizens said that they were seeking up to $225,000 in damages, and wanted the show off the air. BeamOfSunlight called this lawsuit "absurd", admitting that he visited the town several times, but he never said that he was visiting to study the history of Montana, and made it very clear to the citizens that he was visiting to see what parts of the town could be used to develop Asemore. According to BeamOfSunlight, he had gotten the citizens approval to base the show off the town. The lawsuit was later dropped in February 2014, almost a month after the show concluded.

Ratings[]

Ratings for Asemore were high, typically around the 2 million mark each episode.

Home media[]

The entire series was released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 5, 2014.. The DVD was criticized for being "bare bones", with the only special feature being commentary by several of the crew (including BeamOfSunlight). The Blu-ray was more positively reviewed, as it contained more special features such as deleted scenes and bloopers.

Trivia[]

  • All episodes were filmed during October 2012. Post-production lasted five months.
